Welcome to Alma. These Terms and Conditions (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Alma mobile application, related websites, and associated features and services (collectively, “Alma” or the “Services”).
The Services are provided by Committed Tech Ventures, Inc., a Delaware corporation ( “Committed Tech Ventures,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
Please read these Terms carefully. By creating an account, selecting an option to accept these Terms, or accessing or using Alma, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services. Any separate purchase disclosures or terms presented at checkout also apply to the relevant purchase.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. It is a separate document and does not replace these Terms.
Alma is intended for people 18 years of age or older. By using the Services, you represent that you meet this minimum age requirement and have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms, or that any legally required parent or guardian authorization has been obtained. If the law where you live sets a higher minimum age or requires additional authorization, that law applies.
You may use Alma only where your use is lawful. We may restrict access to the Services in jurisdictions where offering or using them would violate applicable law.
Alma is a Christian prayer, devotional, and Bible study application designed to help users develop intentional prayer habits and engage with Scripture. Depending on your device, location, subscription, and selected features, Alma may offer:
Features may change, and some may require an internet connection, a compatible device, specific permissions, or a paid subscription. We do not promise that any particular feature will always remain available.
Certain features may require an Alma account. When registering, you agree to provide accurate information where requested and to keep your account information reasonably current.
You are responsible for protecting your sign-in methods and for activity under your account, except to the extent caused by our failure to meet applicable legal or security obligations. Do not share account access in a way that compromises security or violates these Terms. Contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use.
We may require you to verify information or take reasonable security steps to protect your account and the Services.
Our Privacy Policy describes the collection, use, storage, sharing, and deletion of information associated with Alma, including account information, prayer-related information, AI interactions, and app-blocking settings.
Some information may remain on your device, while information required for accounts, subscriptions, AI features, or other connected features may be processed by us or service providers. Uninstalling the App does not necessarily delete your online account or cancel a subscription.
You control what personal information you choose to enter into prayer, journal, and AI features. Please avoid submitting information you do not wish to have processed to deliver the feature you request.
Alma provides Christian prayer resources and devotional and educational content for personal use and reflection. Biblical explanations and spiritual perspectives may differ across Christian denominations, traditions, and individual interpretations.
Alma is not a church, clergy member, or substitute for your own spiritual judgment. AI-generated prayers or responses are not represented as direct messages from God, divine revelation, or authoritative religious pronouncements. You are responsible for deciding whether and how to use the content in your own life and faith practice.
Alma is not an emergency service or a provider of medical, mental-health, legal, or financial advice. Nothing in the Services creates a professional adviser–client relationship. If you face an immediate emergency, contact the appropriate local emergency services.
Certain Alma features use artificial intelligence (“AI”) to generate prayers, explanations, reflections, or conversational responses.
You understand that:
You may use and share AI-generated outputs for lawful personal purposes, subject to any applicable third-party rights and restrictions. We do not guarantee that AI-generated output is unique, free of third-party rights, or suitable for a particular purpose.
Our Privacy Policy explains how inputs and outputs may be processed by AI service providers. Do not use AI features to generate unlawful, abusive, or harmful content.
Alma's optional focus and app-blocking features may use Apple's Family Controls, Managed Settings, and related Screen Time technologies. You must grant the relevant device permissions before those features can function.
By enabling app blocking, you authorize Alma to apply the schedules, restrictions, and unlocking rules you select, subject to the capabilities and limitations of your device and operating system.
Important limitations:
You can modify or revoke applicable Screen Time permissions through your device settings. Apple controls the underlying frameworks and operating-system functionality; we cannot guarantee their availability.
Alma may offer free features and paid subscriptions (“Premium” or other plan names shown at purchase). Available plans, features, subscription periods, currencies, taxes, and prices are presented before you confirm a purchase.
Unless clearly stated otherwise at checkout, paid subscriptions automatically renew for successive subscription periods until canceled. By purchasing an auto-renewing subscription, you authorize the applicable payment provider to charge the disclosed renewal price, plus any applicable taxes, at the relevant renewal time, subject to required notices and consents.
The subscription price, billing interval, and renewal conditions shown on the purchase screen govern that purchase. Prices and plan availability may vary by country, platform, or promotional offer.
If you start a free trial or discounted introductory offer, the offer terms shown at checkout govern its duration and eligibility. Unless canceled before the trial or introductory period ends, the subscription may convert to a paid, renewing subscription at the disclosed price.
Trial and promotional eligibility may be limited, including for users who previously redeemed an offer. Promotional codes may have expiration dates, eligibility requirements, and other conditions displayed with the offer.
If you subscribe through Apple's App Store, Apple processes payment and administers the subscription under the applicable Apple terms. You can generally manage or cancel that subscription through your Apple Account's subscription settings:
Cancellation normally stops future renewals; access generally continues until the end of the current paid period, subject to Apple's rules and applicable law. Billing, refund decisions, and some subscription changes may be handled directly by Apple.
If we offer purchases through an Alma website or other authorized checkout, the payment provider identified at checkout processes the payment. Cancellation or plan-management instructions will be provided in the applicable purchase confirmation, available account or billing settings, or through our support contact at media@almaprayer.com and almaprayer.com/account
Your purchase confirmation and the terms presented at checkout identify the applicable merchant, billing arrangements, and any additional conditions.
Canceling a subscription and deleting an Alma account are separate actions. Deleting the App or your Alma account does not automatically cancel a subscription billed by Apple or another payment provider. To avoid future charges, cancel through the appropriate billing channel.
If you need help identifying the applicable cancellation method, contact us at media@almaprayer.com.
Refunds for App Store purchases are generally requested through Apple. For purchases made directly through an Alma-operated checkout, contact media@almaprayer.com or use the refund process provided at purchase.
Nothing in these Terms removes statutory refund, cancellation, withdrawal, or consumer-protection rights. The additional rules in Section 8.7 apply to eligible purchases made directly through our website by consumers in the European Union.
If you are a consumer residing in the European Union and purchase an Alma subscription directly through our website, you generally have the right to withdraw from the purchase contract within 14 days after the contract is concluded, without giving a reason, subject to applicable statutory exceptions. This is separate from your ability to cancel future subscription renewals under Section 8.5.
To exercise your right of withdrawal, send a clear statement of your decision to withdraw before the 14-day period expires to media@almaprayer.com. Please include the email address associated with the purchase and, if available, your purchase date or order reference so we can identify it. You do not have to use a particular form or provide a reason. Where required by law, an online withdrawal function must also be available for eligible website purchases.
You may, but do not have to, use this model withdrawal notice:
If you validly withdraw, we will reimburse payments due under applicable law without undue delay and, in any event, within 14 days after receiving your withdrawal notice, normally using the same payment method used for the original transaction unless you expressly agree otherwise. We will not charge a fee for a reimbursement required by law.
If you expressly requested that a digital service begin during the withdrawal period, applicable law may allow us to charge a proportionate amount for the service supplied before you notified us of withdrawal, provided the required pre-contract information, requests, and other legal conditions were satisfied. For any separately supplied digital content not provided on a physical medium, an exception to the withdrawal right may apply only if all applicable legal conditions have been met, including any required prior express consent, acknowledgment, and purchase confirmation. Immediate access to Alma does not, by itself, automatically remove your withdrawal right.
For subscriptions purchased through Apple's App Store rather than directly through our website, the purchase and refund process is administered by Apple, subject to your rights under applicable consumer law. This Section does not limit any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
You may submit notes, prayer requests, journal entries, messages, preferences, and other materials (“User Content”) through Alma. As between you and us, you retain any rights you have in your User Content.
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, reproduce, transmit, process, and otherwise use User Content only as reasonably necessary to provide, maintain, secure, and support the Services you request, comply with law, and act as otherwise described in our Privacy Policy. This license lasts only as long as needed for those purposes, subject to lawful retention requirements. It does not grant us permission to publish your private prayers for advertising or sell their contents.
You are responsible for having the rights needed to submit your User Content and for ensuring that it does not violate applicable law or others' rights.
You agree not to:
We may investigate apparent violations and take proportionate action, including restricting features or suspending accounts where reasonably necessary, subject to applicable law.
Alma, including its software, interface, branding, original text, designs, and other proprietary materials, is owned by Committed Tech Ventures or its licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App for lawful, non-commercial purposes on devices you own or control. For Apps obtained through Apple's App Store, this license is subject to the Apple Media Services Usage Rules, including permitted Family Sharing or volume-purchase use where available. We grant no rights beyond those expressly stated.
Bible translations, excerpts, images, and other third-party content may be subject to additional copyrights, licenses, and attribution requirements. Such materials remain the property of their respective rights holders.
Nothing in these Terms grants you ownership of the App, our trademarks, or third-party materials.
Alma may rely on third-party services such as app stores, authentication providers, AI providers, subscription processors, payment providers, and device operating-system features.
Your use of those third-party services may also be governed by their own terms and privacy notices. You agree to comply with applicable third-party terms when using Alma. We are not responsible for third-party products or services outside our control, except to the extent required by law.
Links to third-party websites or resources are provided for convenience and do not necessarily imply endorsement.
We work to maintain and improve Alma, but availability may be affected by maintenance, outages, network conditions, app-store decisions, or changes to third-party technologies.
We may release updates, modify features, discontinue optional functionality, or introduce new offerings. We will provide notices, remedies, or alternatives when required by law, including where changes materially affect a paid digital service.
You may need to install updates for the Services to function securely or correctly. Your legal rights regarding conformity and updates to digital services remain unaffected.
You may request deletion of your Alma account using the account-deletion option in the App. You may also contact media@almaprayer.com for assistance. Our Privacy Policy explains how associated personal information is handled and identifies relevant retention exceptions.
We may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary to address significant violations of these Terms, security threats, unlawful conduct, or legal requirements. Where appropriate, we will provide notice and an opportunity to address the issue, unless doing so would create a security, legal, or other serious risk.
You may stop using Alma at any time. Termination does not remove outstanding payment obligations or cancel subscriptions managed through a separate billing provider. Provisions that by their nature should continue—such as intellectual-property rights, disclaimers, liability provisions, and dispute terms—will survive to the extent lawful.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee that Alma will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure against every threat, compatible with every device, or effective in achieving a particular spiritual, behavioral, or screen-time outcome.
We do not warrant the completeness or accuracy of AI-generated content, Bible commentary, or third-party resources. The Services are intended to support personal prayer and reflection, not to guarantee spiritual results or replace professional or emergency services.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits warranties or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, neither Committed Tech Ventures nor its officers, employees, or service providers will be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or business opportunities, arising from the Services.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability for claims relating to the Services will not exceed the greater of US$100 or the amount you paid directly for the Services in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
These limitations do not apply where prohibited by law, including to liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, or to statutory consumer remedies. They do not exclude liability for fraud, intentional wrongdoing, or other matters for which liability cannot lawfully be limited.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of mandatory consumer protections that apply under the laws of your country or state of habitual residence and cannot legally be waived. In particular, consumers in the European Union retain applicable mandatory rights under EU and national consumer-protection laws.
Before commencing a formal dispute, you are encouraged to contact media@almaprayer.com so that we can try to resolve the issue informally. This does not require you to give up or delay any right to bring a claim or contact a regulator.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, disputes may be brought in courts of competent jurisdiction in Delaware. Consumers may also bring proceedings in courts available to them under mandatory jurisdiction rules; these Terms do not require such consumers to bring claims exclusively in Delaware. These Terms do not impose mandatory arbitration or a class-action waiver.
If you download Alma from Apple's App Store, the following provisions apply:
For questions, complaints, or claims regarding the App, contact Committed Tech Ventures using the details in Section 20.
We may update these Terms as our Services, business practices, or legal obligations change. We will publish the updated Terms with a revised date and provide additional notice where required or appropriate.
If a change materially affects your rights or a paid subscription, we will comply with applicable notice and consent requirements. Changes will not retroactively remove rights you have already acquired. If you do not agree to updated Terms, you may stop using the Services and cancel any subscription, subject to your statutory rights and applicable purchase terms.
